Modeling and Fuzzy FOPID Controller Tuned by PSO for Pneumatic Positioning System

A pneumatic cylinder system is believed to be extremely nonlinear and sensitive nonlinearities, which makes it challenging establish precise position control of the actuator. The current research aimed at reducing overshoot in response a double-acting actuator, namely, IPA positioning system’s reaction time. was modeled using an autoregressive with exogenous input (ARX) model structure, strategy implemented fuzzy fractional order proportional integral derivative (fuzzy FOPID) employing particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. This approach used determine optimal controller parameters. comparison study has been conducted prove advantages utilizing PSO FOPID over PID. tuning algorithm validated tested actuator both simulation real environments. From standpoint time-domain performance metrics, such as rising time (tr), settling (ts), (OS%), outperforms Fuzzy PID terms dynamic performance.
